Time To Head Outside
With daylight saving starting this weekend the light at the end of the Winter tunnel will seem that much brighter! Spring sure can be a box of chocolates in Aotearoa and I’ve definitely bit into a few chocs this Spring that I haven’t enjoyed, but I’m sure the hazelnut and caramel centers are just around the corner! In anticipation of brighter days, thoughts shift to time spent outdoors and finally creating that al fresco space to enjoy over the Summer months. I’m here to share some of my outdoor chair picks for the season, from budget conscious to the other extreme. All we need now is the sun….
Outdoor areas are the perfect spaces to have fun with colour. There is a freedom that comes from not having colours of walls, floors and curtains around that you need to factor in – you can just have some serious colourful fun. These chairs are colourful and playful and would look great grouped around a fire pit.
Nothing says resort style like rattan. These super inviting chairs look like the ideal spot to curl up with an Aperol Spritz and a good book. Positioned in a spot on a verandah or deck with some lush plants around and you have your own private resort.
If you have the perfect tree there is nothing better than swinging in a hammock beneath that perfect tree. This Hammock Chair gives you the relaxed and playful vibes of a hammock without making it blimmin’ impossible for you to get out (am I the only one who struggles climbing out of a hammock??!!). Even just seeing this swinging in the breeze beneath a tree would give me sense of relaxation.
I just love the colour of these chairs and their contemporary Dutch design. They scream to be beside a pool, but as not many Wellingtonian’s see much need for a pool, they would look equally beautiful in a rambly garden space or around an outdoor fire.
The thing I absolutely adore about beanbags is their flexibility and casual aesthetic. We have three outdoor beanbags and two indoor bean bags – so we are clearly fans! They also come with a huge price range. You can pick a cover up from about $50 from Bunnings (beans are extra) through to the premium end of the bean bag market, Coast. I do love Coast because they are made here in NZ and last a super long time with their Sunbrella fabrics making them very robust. An investment for many Summers ahead.
