Inspiration From The Hotel Calile

The added bonus of attending the Business of Real Estate Conference on the Gold Coast is that we can tack a few days on the end of our trip for some chill time. We re-discovered Brisbane in recent years, and Fortitude Valley in particular. This is an area that would bring joy to anyone who loves aesthetically pleasing places and spaces. The Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley has to be the most Instagrammable place that I have stayed, and I am forever taking pics around the hotel and talking with Jas about what we could incorporate in our own house to bring some Calile Hotel vibes home. Below are my five takeaways to bring some hotel luxury into your space.

01 - Scent

Some of my favourite Hotels have a distinct aroma, Hotel Britomart in Auckland is one example and The Calile Hotel is definitely another. I’m clearly not the only person to enjoy this as both of these hotels sell their signature scent in candle form (and I have them both!). The scents in the bathroom space are also an important part of this aromatic experience and can easily be incorporated at home so that every time you wash your hands you have some memory bliss. At The Calile Hotel they have the divine Grown Alchemist hand wash, body wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner – bathroom scent goals!

02 - Loo Paper

It was when we last stayed at Calile Hotel in 2022 that I discovered loo paper doesn’t need to be boring. The room colour theme for our recent stay was pink (they also have green and blue themed rooms), and so the spare toilet paper roll was in keeping with this shade, wrapped in pretty pink paper. In NZ, With Small produce equally pretty loo paper, with the added bonus of being a carbon neutral organisation. I order by the box load and enjoy the pop of colour they bring to the most functional room in the house.

03 - Signature Light

Bedside lights are not only deeply practical but are also an opportunity to bring a bit of luxe style to your space. With a number of well priced lighting stores in NZ, these don’t need to be a significant investment and can help set the tone in the bedroom and set the mood at night.

04 - Comfy Robe

At The Calile Hotel the robes are light linen and perfect for the climate (we were enjoying 28 degrees in early September!), but in Wellington you might lean more towards a thick fluffy robe. Whatever your preference, there is something very enjoyable and luxurious about slipping a climate appropriate robe on in the morning or before bed. Very hotel vibes.

05 - Crisp Linen

No one does linen like a top hotel. At most hotels they keep it crisp, clean white and made with the precision of an army major, but you can bring whatever your linen preference is into your home to make your bedroom an inviting and relaxing space. I’ve religiously made my bed each morning for as long as I can remember, so that I can enjoy the sense of sanctuary that this brings to your personal space when you return at the end of a day. Whether you love colour, pattern, linen or cotton, this is an area to bring some hotel luxury to your every day.
