Get Lost at The NZ Art Show
It’s almost King’s Birthday weekend and therefore it’s almost time for the annual NZ Art Show at the TSB Arena! This event is one close to our family as my daughter Bella has been exhibiting through The NZ Art Show since she was 14 years old. Every year we stop by to support her and also check out the incredible array of work from local artists and creatives. We even became friends of The Art Show a couple of years back and make sure to attend the Gala Night for a first look at all of the artwork on display.
If you haven’t attended the NZ Art Show before, I would highly recommend popping by this year and make a day of it. With the exhibition located inside the TSB Arena, you’re close to several tasty lunch spots like Dockside and Rosie’s Cantina, as well as the Wellington Museum and Portrait Gallery. Top it all off with a post-lunch stroll along the Wellington waterfront, sounds like a pretty good Saturday to me!
If you’ve been on the hunt for some new artwork for your home or simply want to browse some amazing local talent, this event is a must-see. One of the unique aspects of this event is that you also get the opportunity to meet and chat to the artists on-site, making the experience of purchasing or just admiring the artwork even more special. So, today I wanted to highlight a handful of my favourite returning artists that always produce stunning work…
Esther Bunning
Esther’s photography is always breathtaking, I especially love her focus on floral arrangements as subject matter in her latest collection-paired with beautiful custom frames. Esther has been practicing photography for over 30 years and her wall at the NZ Art Show is always beautifully curated and eye-catching.

Tracey-Lea Morgan
We first discovered Tracey at the NZ Art Show last year as her wall was situated near Bella’s and she is now a firm favourite! Based in the Wairarapa, Tracey creates bold, colourful paintings, often focused around detailed textures of wallpaper and fabric. Her work has a wonderfully nostalgic feel to it and would look beautiful displayed in a vintage-lovers home.

Andrena Morris
Wellington based painter Andrena Morris was another artist that we first noticed at the show last year and fell in love with her colourful, graphic work. I’m especially excited to check out her latest work at the NZ Art Show this year, depicting Tora beach in Southern Wairarapa, it’s so incredibly striking.

Holly Thomas
Gisborne based artist Holly Thomas creates incredible large scale mixed-media work that we were immediately struck by at the NZ Art Show last year. Framed beautifully and with a very playful style, her pieces are the kind of art that you can get lost in and see something new every time you look at it.

Tracy Stamatakos
As much as I love a bright pop of colour, I also feel very drawn to moody artwork and Tracy Stamatakos’ photography work is the perfect example of this. Her subject matter focuses on Aotearoa landscapes and seascapes and they remind me of the years we spent living on the coast in Breaker Bay. The moody colours and textures in her work are so eye-catching.

Bella Foster
I would of course be remiss not to mention my talented daughter Bella and her new collection of painting and photographic work that will be on display at the NZ Art Show this year. We are lucky enough to see behind the scenes as Bella paints away in the studio at home, but we’re so looking forward to seeing them all completed and hanging on the walls of the TSB Arena!
