Bed Linen Refresh!
Whether it’s one of those tasks that feels a little laborious or you find joy in the ritual, I think we can all agree that having a freshly made bed is a very satisfying thing! I’ve made it a conscious part of my morning routine to make our bed before starting the work day, and recently the desire for a bed linen refresh has been on my mind…
Investing in new bedding every once in a while can be something I tend to put off, but when I eventually do, I think to myself ‘why didn’t I do this sooner!?’ So, as an early Christmas present to myself and Jason, I’m on the hunt for some new linen. Today, I thought I’d share some options with all of you, in case you’ve been dreaming of a little bedding refresh yourself, here are some aesthetically pleasing, locally available options to hopefully inspire both of us!
The Inspo:
Through many hours of scrolling on Pinterest and flicking through interior design magazines over the years, I’ve observed that the key to a beautiful bedscape is layering. Whether that’s with pillows, throw blankets or decorative cushions, all of my favourite images of beautiful beds have several textures and colours that work together seamlessly. It’s amazing how much a well curated bed can bring a bedroom together and create a cosy, inviting space to retreat to every evening.
Working With Existing Colours:
For most of us, existing colours in the bedroom will help determine the palette for a cohesive bedscape. We have a dark green wardrobe and gold velvet bedhead taking up a lot of the visual real estate in our bedroom, along with a gorgeous framed photo print taken by my Father in Alexandra, which has plenty of rich earthy tones.
If you’re after that cohesive colour scheme in your own space, I would recommend taking some time to create a little colour palette moodboard for some guidance. It might seem a bit extra, but bed linen can be pricey, so I like to take my time making sure whatever I pick will fit into our colour palette as well as possible.
The Wishlist:
There are plenty of great stores that stock sheets, duvet covers, cushions and throws of all colours, shapes and sizes. But, I am a long time fan of Citta Design for my bed linen needs. They're durable, cosy and often come in those earthy tones that I’m looking for. But, I’ve managed to compile a wishlist from several different local Aotearoa stores to get me started…
So now, the next step is shopping! I’m looking forward to compiling our new bedding before the end of the year and playing around with some more layering for that Pinterest-worthy bedscape. Stay tuned for the final result…
